After more than a decade away, Mighty Code is back — and building better than ever.
When Mighty Code went on hiatus in 2012, cloud computing was just hitting its stride. Minecraft 1.0 was fresh out the door. Smartphones were about to cross 50% adoption in the US, and people still used them to occasionally make phone calls. Teenagers were still getting their drivers licenses. (In retrospect, maybe the Mayans were just trying to warn us about doomscrolling.)
A lot has changed. The big story now is AI. The spectrum of opinions about it ranges from pure hype to the end of human civilization — but the truth is likely found somewhere in the middle. We believe it can be genuinely useful, but it matters how it is used.
Mighty Code is back in part because AI is mighty code. We’re here to help apply AI in ways that actually help people do more of what matters to them, and hopefully build some cool stuff along the way.
AI agents are the newest workers, not the only ones — and they won't be replacing the others anytime soon. Work infrastructure needs to support the full spectrum of work, not just LLMs.
AI didn't create the comprehension problem — it removed the speed limit that kept it manageable. The infrastructure patterns we need already exist. They just haven't been applied at the scale AI demands. Part 3 of a 3-part series.
The industry is waking up to dark code — AI-generated code nobody understands. From spec-driven development to cognitive debt to new regulations, here's where the conversation stands. Part 2 of a 3-part series.
AI-generated code nobody understands is running in production everywhere. The incidents are escalating, the numbers are stark, and the industry is just starting to reckon with it. Part 1 of a 3-part series.
