Mighty Code LLC is a software company based out of Portland, Oregon.

Originally founded in 2009, Mighty Code began as a consulting shop doing custom development for companies like Nike and NW Natural. The original vision was to build products, but life had other plans — when the founder's son needed a full-time parent, that took priority. The entrepreneurial dream went on hold for the more important job, and the company went dormant for over a decade.

Mighty Code was reestablished in 2023, and in April 2026 went full-time — building products and services with even mightier code, powered by LLMs and software agents.

Our Mission

AI is the most powerful tool to arrive in a generation. How it is used matters.

Too much of the push behind AI has been aimed at supplanting human creativity — churning out images instead of hiring illustrators, extruding music instead of paying musicians, assembling books instead of supporting authors — often trained on those creators' own work without their consent. We think that's the wrong direction.

Mighty Code exists to build products, tools, and services that point AI at the work people don't want to do — the tedious, the repetitive, the operationally complex — so humans can focus on what actually matters to them. Technology should be an enabler for people, not a mechanism to cut them out of the equation.

We also just want to build cool stuff.

Our Philosophy

Stewards, not gatekeepers. We measure every decision against a simple test: does this create opportunity, or does it concentrate control? If it's the latter, we don't do it.

No vendor lock-in. Your data is yours. If you host with us, you can export everything — no contrived restrictions, no hoops to jump through, no hostage negotiations. You stay because the product is good, not because leaving is hard.

Foster the ecosystem. We're not trying to take the whole pie. Our formats are open specifications that anyone can implement. Our products are reference implementations, not the only implementations. If someone builds something better on top of our specs, that's a win.

We earn from services that add genuine value — not from restricting what you can do with the tools.

About The Founder

Jason Mauer — Founder & Chief Architect. He's been creating software since grade school, when he taught himself BASIC on a Commodore PET drawing ASCII rocket ships that blasted off one PRINT statement at a time. His professional journey started in 1994, and has wound through state government, Fortune 500 consulting, developer evangelism at Microsoft, and principal engineering roles at Nike, eBay, Kroger, and ServiceTitan — with stops at startups, pre-IPO companies, and his own consulting shop along the way.

Jason was doing full-stack development before it had a name. Desktop, web, mobile, cloud, backend — from dBase and classic MacOS to .NET and Kotlin Multiplatform, across more languages and frameworks than fit in a reasonable paragraph. The kind of person who builds internal tools for fun and then realizes the internal tool is the product.

Based in Portland, Oregon, where he spends his free time making music and putting more miles on his bike. Find him on Mastodon and GitHub.
